An unexpectedly hard shot by Jan Apostel in the 9th minute of play forced Esmeraldas S.C.'s goalkeeper Aguinaga Nebot to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aguinaga Nebot made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jan Apostel in the 12th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Esmeraldas S.C.'s Martinez Cines slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Alban Bolesta. That made the score 1-0 after 24 minutes of play. When Damian Maftei came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Esmeraldas S.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Damian Maftei couldn't finish the play. Aguinaga Nebot showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jan Apostel, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Jan Apostel's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aguinaga Nebot read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. FC Hamburg's Alban Bolesta proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save FC Hamburg from getting a goal against them. 36 minutes into the match, FC Hamburg's goalkeeper Alban Bolesta had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Martinez Cines. FC Hamburg's Alban Bolesta proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save FC Hamburg from getting a goal against them. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Damian Maftei kicked well hit freekick during the 50th minute of the match. If Jan Apostel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Aguinaga Nebot came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Hamburg's Enrique Prata. But to his dismay, Enrique Prata quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. In the 57th minute, Stefanos Terzopoulos made a precise shot to the right of Alban Bolesta. FC Hamburg's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Alban Bolesta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martinez Cines in the 62nd minute of the match. Alban Bolesta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Damian Maftei, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Damian Maftei in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alban Bolesta prevented the ball from getting in the gole. FC Hamburg's Rainer Bethge was substituted for Markus Heimrath. 73 minutes into the match, FC Hamburg's goal looked a bit too open when Niki Borda came free, but Alban Bolesta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FC Hamburg's Jan Apostel got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 82 minutes, İbrahim Volkan made it 3-1 with a short kick to the right side. FC Hamburg's Alban Bolesta tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Stefanos Terzopoulos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Alban Bolesta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alban Bolesta didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from İbrahim Volkan went, in the 94th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score.
