An unexpectedly hard shot by Long Xiang Yuan in the 35th minute of play forced Academia 1903's goalkeeper Primo Speranza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some careless play in the Academia 1903 defense, Turgut Soyuer kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Primo Speranza. The Academia 1903 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Primo Speranza should have stopped the shot. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Primo Speranza made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Turgut Soyuer sent off a good shot on target. 70 minutes into the match, Academia 1903's Timoteo Columbo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that David Abad narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
