After a rather tough play, SE Palestra Itália's Filipe Cardozo got a free kick in the 5th minute. Clodoveo Fonso's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Iuri Pernambucano read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. In the 14th minute, Clodoveo Fonso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Angelino Barto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredo Pinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Pinho in the 16th minute of play forced Cementerio Club's goalkeeper Angelino Barto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Angelino Barto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfredo Pinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Iuri Pernambucano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Clodoveo Fonso in the 39th minute of play. Mazinho de Alcântara's late challenge caught a Cementerio Club's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mazinho de Alcântara helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Cementerio Club booed when SE Palestra Itália was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mazinho de Alcântara didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Cementerio Club's Clodoveo Fonso in the 41st minute got a chance for a shot 41st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye SE Palestra Itália's goalie prevented a goal. Nereo Feo lost his temper 48 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. José Carlos Silva shot the penalty kick right outside the post.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kaká Leal stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Alfredo Pinho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Angelino Barto made a huge save. Angelino Barto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kaká Leal in the 62nd minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as SE Palestra Itália's Alfredo Pinho slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Angelino Barto. That made the score 1-3 after 66 minutes of play. 70 minutes into the match, Cementerio Club's goalkeeper Angelino Barto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alfredo Pinho. Cementerio Club's Melchor Brion got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 85th minute of the game José Augusto Soeiro made a throw-in which Alfredo Pinho played forward. After a defensive mix-up in Cementerio Club's zone, Alfredo Pinho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Angelino Barto came out of the goal and Alfredo Pinho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Angelino Barto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kaká Leal in the 92nd minute of the match. After 94 played minutes Cementerio Club got a freekick which was hit by Melchor Brion. Angelino Barto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kaká Leal, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Hermínio Moraes kicked well hit freekick during the 99th minute of the match. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched SE Palestra Itália eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
