When Takis Tsirilidis fell near the penalty area in the 6th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AC Milan's protests and gave Takis Tsirilidis a yellow card for diving instead. In the 7th minute of the match Bruno Santana sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nikos Kosmidis skillfully saved the ball. 10 minutes into the match, AC Milan's goal looked a bit too open when Ronaldinho de Amaral came free, but Nikos Kosmidis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Internazionale-RS's Ronaldinho de Amaral got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Aris Kortzidis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Filipe Travassos was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. After 15 minutes, Ronaldinho de Amaral made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. AC Milan's Nikos Kosmidis tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jorginho Soares got free with Nikos Kosmidis in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd rose to their feet as Ronaldinho de Amaral kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nikos Kosmidis. That made the score 2-0 in the 21 minute of play. In the 24th minute, Jorginho Soares got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 26 played minutes AC Milan got a freekick which was hit by Takis Tsirilidis. The audience was convinced that Jorginho Soares's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nikos Kosmidis was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. Filipe Travassos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Petros Malioufas in the 30th minute of play. Bruno Santana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nikos Kosmidis having to interfere. After 36 played minutes AC Milan got a freekick which was hit by Konstantinos Triantafyllopoulos. Ronaldinho de Amaral came free with the goalkeeper in the 38th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Nikos Kosmidis could save by the left post. A collision led to AC Milan getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Nikolas Kyriakidis hit a great ball. After 40 played minutes, Internazionale-RS's Luís Eduardo Furlan shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Nikos Kosmidis came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Internazionale-RS reached it. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jorginho Soares stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jorginho Soares in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nikos Kosmidis saved AC Milan from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in AC Milan's zone, Bruno Santana stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nikos Kosmidis came out of the goal and Bruno Santana tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 59 minutes into the game, Internazionale-RS's Jorginho Soares nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nikos Kosmidis made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Spyros Spanakis managed to get in a good position for a shot. AC Milan's supporters rose to their feet, but Spyros Spanakis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Filipe Travassos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jorginho Soares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nikos Kosmidis having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 77 minutes, Petros Malioufas took a quick shot and it went in 4-1 without a chance for Filipe Travassos to make any attempt to save it. After 81 played minutes AC Milan got a freekick which was hit by Nikolas Kyriakidis. After 82 played minutes, Internazionale-RS's Dino de Toledo shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Nikos Kosmidis came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Internazionale-RS's zone, Aris Kortzidis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Filipe Travassos came out of the goal and Aris Kortzidis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Takis Tsirilidis kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. After 92 minutes of play, Internazionale-RS's Dino de Toledo made it 6-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nikos Kosmidis was left in no man's land by his defense there!
