Alfonso Combi made in the 16th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Marcelo Zalayeta. Marcelo Zalayeta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Qiao Chao Ran fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Honkens Bengaler BK's protests and gave Qiao Chao Ran a yellow card for diving instead. Bianco Florio struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. William Vennersten didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for PEÑAROL PIPERO. Karl-Oskar Carlsson might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Oscar Ferro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Karl-Oskar Carlsson ran back to his position shaking his head. William Vennersten showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Agustín Alvarez in the 30th minute of the match. 33 minutes into the match, Honkens Bengaler BK's goal looked a bit too open when Cruz Rabanera came free, but William Vennersten reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Agustín Alvarez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. William Vennersten tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Honkens Bengaler BK booed when PEÑAROL PIPERO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lukasz Klucznik didn't get a good kick on the ball. Oscar Ferro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Knut Tingelholm, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. William Vennersten took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agustín Alvarez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

A collision led to PEÑAROL PIPERO getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Gustavo Matosas hit a great ball. Oscar Ferro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Karl-Oskar Carlsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 61 minutes, Agustín Alvarez took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for William Vennersten to make any attempt to save it. PEÑAROL PIPERO made a substitution. Rogelio Cosca replaced Agustín Alvarez. PEÑAROL PIPERO's Procopio Mayorga was substituted for Cruz Rabanera.
