After a rather tough play, U21 Austria's Hans-Jürgen Krügers got a free kick in the 3rd minute. 4 minutes into the game, U21 Poland's Witold Bycofski nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Thorsten Ternes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Tanek Wojtyna took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jens Krammer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 11 minutes into the game, U21 Austria's Jens Krammer nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tanek Wojtyna made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Hans-Jürgen Krügers kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jan Pająk in the 14th minute of play forced U21 Austria's goalkeeper Thorsten Ternes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 15th minute Witold Bycofski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thorsten Ternes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Witold Bycofski in the 16th minute of play forced U21 Austria's goalkeeper Thorsten Ternes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tanek Wojtyna took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adem Ferrari, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With his leg Tanek Wojtyna managed to avoid a goal in the 18thth minute, when U21 Austria's Adem Ferrari fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Thorsten Ternes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kamilo Glik in the 20th minute of play. In the 21st minute Witold Bycofski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thorsten Ternes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Austria's goalkeeper Thorsten Ternes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Tanek Wojtyna came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Austria's Nico-Pascal Kapteina. But to his dismay, Nico-Pascal Kapteina quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. In the 30th match minute, U21 Poland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zbigniew Boniek to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Witold Bycofski in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Thorsten Ternes saved U21 Austria from getting behind. U21 Austria's Thorsten Ternes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Witold Bycofski in the 39th minute of play. 41 minutes into the match, U21 Austria's goal looked a bit too open when Kamilo Glik came free, but Thorsten Ternes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 43rd match minute, U21 Austria was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jens Krammer to maneuver through the defense. U21 Austria's Thorsten Ternes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Witold Bycofski in the 44th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

With a little luck, U21 Austria's Thorsten Ternes got control of the ball when Witold Bycofski tried to sneak it across the goal line. Tanek Wojtyna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nico-Pascal Kapteina in the 55th minute of play. Thorsten Ternes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Witold Bycofski in the 63rd minute of the match. Thorsten Ternes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Witold Bycofski in the 67th minute. 69 minutes into the match, U21 Austria's goal looked a bit too open when Witold Bycofski came free, but Thorsten Ternes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thorsten Ternes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Witold Bycofski in the 72nd minute of the match. After having played for 77 minutes, Witold Bycofski managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Poland's supporters crossed their fingers, but Witold Bycofski was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. U21 Austria's Luca Divis was substituted for Dennis-Sven Piater. U21 Poland's Roman Fujarczuk was substituted for Karol Andrzejewski. Thorsten Ternes was out of position in the 82 minute of play, and Er Håland capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Er Håland really showed his touch with that goal: 3-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jens Krammer in the 85th minute of play forced U21 Poland's goalkeeper Tanek Wojtyna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jan Pająk fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thorsten Ternes having to interfere. Tanek Wojtyna showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adem Ferrari in the 89th minute of the match. Thorsten Ternes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kamilo Glik in the 90th minute of the match. In the 90th minute, Kamilo Glik reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Thorsten Ternes. The goal made the score 3-3. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
