The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Tony Chaves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tony Pacheco in the 3rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgardo Silva in the 7th minute of play forced SE Palestra Itália's goalkeeper Tony Chaves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the SE Palestra Itália defense, Edgardo Silva kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tony Chaves. The SE Palestra Itália fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tony Chaves should have stopped the shot. Edgardo Silva might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tony Chaves. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. In the 39th minute Edgardo Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tony Chaves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edgardo Silva took the ball and in the 50 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tony Chaves. Tony Chaves dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Clayton Sergi made a kick off. 60 minutes into the match, Edgardo Silva dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Tony Chaves, 0-5. Edgardo Silva blasted a shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tony Chaves having to make a save. That made the score 0-7 after 78 minutes of play. 81 minutes into the match, SE Palestra Itália's goal looked a bit too open when Tio Lio came free, but Tony Chaves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 102nd minute, New England Minas's Tio Lio ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Tony Chaves. Tony Chaves yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-10. New England Minas's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
