The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Constantino Favila hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Terremoto FC's zone, Luisinho Seco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Severino Sotero came out of the goal and Luisinho Seco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Melquiades Hurko fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Terremoto FC's protests and gave Melquiades Hurko a yellow card for diving instead. 11 minutes into the game, Umberto DionĂsio cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Severino Sotero was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of Castanheiro SC booed when Terremoto FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pastor Chap didn't get a good kick on the ball. Umberto DionĂsio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Severino Sotero made a huge save. During the 20th minute of the match Melquiades Hurko completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Melquiades Hurko a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After a rather tough play, Terremoto FC's Melquiades Hurko got a free kick in the 20th minute. Umberto DionĂsio's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 24thth minute, Severino Sotero skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Terremoto FC's Severino Sotero proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Terremoto FC from getting a goal against them. Severino Sotero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nilson Veloso in the 30th minute of the match. Umberto DionĂsio who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 31stth minute tested the skills of Severino Sotero when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Umberto DionĂsio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Severino Sotero made a huge save. After 45 minutes, Hugo Mirande mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Terremoto FC and the Castanheiro SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Umberto DionĂsio was the one to do the kick off. Constantino Favila got his second yellow card in the match during the 53rd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Severino Sotero made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. Benedito Mineiro scored 4-0 in the 63rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Severino Sotero, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 68 minutes of play, Castanheiro SC's AnĂsio Alagoano made it 5-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Severino Sotero was left in no man's land by his defense there! AnĂsio Alagoano blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Severino Sotero having to make a save. 78 minutes into the match, Benedito Mineiro notched a goal, 7-0, to the right of Terremoto FC's Severino Sotero. Severino Sotero was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the match had gone on for 81 minutes, Mauro Sarmento put it in 8-0 from a short distance just to the right of Severino Sotero. In the 87th minute, Benedito Mineiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 94th minute Hugo Mirande shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedrinho GuimarĂ£es saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Severino Sotero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luisinho Seco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Castanheiro SC fully deserved thier win.
