The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the match, MUSHIBA FC's goal looked a bit too open when Umberto Dionísio came free, but Rômulo Souto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Umberto Dionísio took the ball and in the 5 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rômulo Souto. Rômulo Souto dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 9 minutes into the game, Clemente Cardozo threw the ball into play from the sideline. MUSHIBA FC's Benê da Costa quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. When Mauro Sarmento fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Castanheiro SC's protests and gave Mauro Sarmento a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Castanheiro SC getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Mauro Sarmento hit a great ball. After 12 played minutes Castanheiro SC got a freekick which was hit by Clemente Cardozo. After 13 minutes, Célio Vianna mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Castanheiro SC and the MUSHIBA FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 13th minute, Célio Vianna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rômulo Souto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Umberto Dionísio's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. Pedrinho Guimarães showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Severino Marquez, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. MUSHIBA FC's attentive Benê da Costa managed to snatch the ball when Mauro Sarmento made a throw-in in the 18th minute of the game. Pedrinho Guimarães showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Severino Marquez in the 20th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Umberto Dionísio in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rômulo Souto saved MUSHIBA FC from getting behind. Pedrinho Guimarães took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Régis Sampaio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Benedito Mineiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rômulo Souto was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. The supporters of MUSHIBA FC booed when Castanheiro SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Célio Vianna didn't get a good kick on the ball. Castanheiro SC's Pedrinho Guimarães proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Castanheiro SC from getting a goal against them. Gil Meira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Pedrinho Guimarães made a huge save. Rômulo Souto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Umberto Dionísio in the 35th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Clemente Cardozo during the 40th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Clemente Cardozo kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Clemente Cardozo got his second yellow card in the match during the 42nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Clemente Cardozo hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Castanheiro SC's Célio Vianna got a free kick in the 44th minute. Juan de Almeida recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. MUSHIBA FC's Benê da Costa managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Magno Pereira in the 47 minute of the game.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Umberto Dionísio to strike the kick off in the second half. 56 minutes into the match, MUSHIBA FC's Gil Meira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pedrinho Guimarães narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 62 minutes into the match, Castanheiro SC's goal looked a bit too open when Severino Marquez came free, but Pedrinho Guimarães reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 63rd minute Umberto Dionísio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rômulo Souto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee ignored Castanheiro SC's protests and gave Nilson Veloso a yellow card for diving instead. After 92 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Castanheiro SC! After 98 played minutes MUSHIBA FC got a freekick which was hit by Régis Sampaio. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
