The coaching staff of Catalin Haldan protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Mugurel Onete had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Mugurel Onete kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Frédson Melo in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Stanford Peters saved Kentucky Mustangs from getting behind. Stanford Peters showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Peter Telin, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Filip Scorţea hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Kentucky Mustangs's Dwight Manning got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Olavi Liib made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tracy Brunson in the 28th minute of play. Barry Curry kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Kentucky Mustangs's Dalton Benson got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tracy Brunson in the 32nd minute of play forced Catalin Haldan's goalkeeper Olavi Liib to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 39 minutes, Tracy Brunson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kentucky Mustangs's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tracy Brunson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 41 minutes into the match, Catalin Haldan's goalkeeper Olavi Liib had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jack Agnes. The supporters of Kentucky Mustangs booed when Catalin Haldan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Živko Dabović didn't get a good kick on the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Jack Agnes made the kick off in the second half. Stanford Peters made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frédson Melo in the 52nd minute of play. Catalin Haldan's Olavi Liib played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tracy Brunson in the 58th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tracy Brunson in the 62nd minute of play forced Catalin Haldan's goalkeeper Olavi Liib to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 64th minute, Jack Agnes made a precise shot to the right of Olavi Liib. Catalin Haldan's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Kentucky Mustangs's Tony Freitas was substituted for Marshall Swanson. Tracy Brunson might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Olavi Liib. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tracy Brunson ran back to his position shaking his head. 71 minutes into the match, Catalin Haldan's goal looked a bit too open when Tracy Brunson came free, but Olavi Liib reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Jack Agnes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Kentucky Mustangs's Jack Agnes got a free kick in the 80th minute. In the 83rd match minute, Kentucky Mustangs was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tracy Brunson to maneuver through the defense. Olavi Liib showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tracy Brunson, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Brian Loomis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kentucky Mustangs's supporters rose to their feet, but Brian Loomis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Olavi Liib breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frédson Melo in the 94th minute of play forced Kentucky Mustangs's goalkeeper Stanford Peters to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Catalin Haldan's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
