The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Capivara FC's João Fernandez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 4th minute of the match, managed to save Capivara FC from getting a goal against them. When Capivara FC's Bebeto Sarmento in the 9th minute got a chance for a shot 9th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye A.A. In the 17th minute of the match, Luizão Bocanegra got a very nice opportunity to score, but João Fernandez was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 18th minute, Celso Maranhense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wilson Cassia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Betão Pinheiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 22 minutes into the match, A.A. Francana's goal looked a bit too open when Bebeto Sarmento came free, but Wilson Cassia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luizão Bocanegra could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but João Fernandez made a huge save. With a little luck, Capivara FC's João Fernandez got control of the ball when Luizão Bocanegra tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 30 played minutes Capivara FC got a freekick which was hit by Erasmo Sena. Ruy Fantini hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Ruy Fantini fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Fernandez having to interfere. 46 minutes into the match, A.A. Francana's goal looked a bit too open when Betão Pinheiro came free, but Wilson Cassia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 47 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Capivara FC's Júnior Veloso fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

51 minutes into the match, A.A. Francana's goal looked a bit too open when Júnior Veloso came free, but Wilson Cassia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With his leg Wilson Cassia managed to avoid a goal in the 53rdth minute, when Capivara FC's Bebeto Sarmento fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a rather tough play, Capivara FC's Celso Maranhense got a free kick in the 56th minute. Júnior Veloso kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. In the 62nd minute, Armando Orlando hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Betão Pinheiro in the 63rd minute of play forced A.A. Francana's goalkeeper Wilson Cassia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 65 minutes had been played when some careless play by A.A. Francana's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Erasmo Sena was slow to take the kick. During this time Capivara FC's players had a chance to rest. After a rather tough play, A.A. Francana's Armando Orlando got a free kick in the 66th minute. Bebeto Sarmento could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Wilson Cassia made a huge save. Júnior Veloso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Capivara FC's João Fernandez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luizão Bocanegra in the 74th minute of play. 78 minutes into the game, Capivara FC's Betão Pinheiro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Wilson Cassia made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Cido Vinhas charged in rather forcefully in the 82nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cido Vinhas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A.A. Francana:s Wilson Cassia showed great skill when he stopped Júnior Veloso:s penalty. Wilson Cassia came out of the goal in the 83rd minute to try and stop a shot by Capivara FC's Júnior Veloso. But to his dismay, Júnior Veloso quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Bebeto Sarmento's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wilson Cassia read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. Claudinho Souto hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. Betão Pinheiro's late challenge caught a A.A. Francana's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Betão Pinheiro helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of A.A. Francana booed when Capivara FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Betão Pinheiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Capivara FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
