Vaggelis Pagarliotas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Stamatis Lakerdas hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. After having played for 26 minutes, Eric Apostu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Fanaticii's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eric Apostu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Dimitris Koukoulas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Go Ahead Eagles's Vaggelis Pagarliotas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mihai Măliță in the 35th minute of play. 38 minutes into the match, FC Fanaticii's goal looked a bit too open when Dimitris Koukoulas came free, but Florin Pruneda reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mugurel Cezar's late challenge caught a Go Ahead Eagles's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mugurel Cezar helped the player get up and apologised. If Aris Kolitsis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
