The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leonardo Donato during the 3rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 5th minute of the game. One of Palmeiras:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV:s goal. The goalkeeper, Jacinto Chaves, was totally fooled by MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV's Dan Stelaru, who 6 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. In the 9th minute Dan Stelaru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacinto Chaves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cláudio Donatello sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jacinto Chaves stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dan Stelaru's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. A collision led to Palmeiras getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Fábio de Souza hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Palmeiras's zone, Liviu Mincu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacinto Chaves came out of the goal and Liviu Mincu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 20th minute Dan Stelaru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacinto Chaves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Liviu Mincu struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Jacinto Chaves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV. The supporters of MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV booed when Palmeiras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dorian Neves didn't get a good kick on the ball. Palmeiras's Jacinto Chaves proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Palmeiras from getting a goal against them. Dan Stelaru had several of the Palmeiras's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 29 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 3-0 score and a disappointed Jacinto Chaves as he didn't even see the shot coming. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Liviu Mincu managed to get in a good position for a shot. MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV's supporters rose to their feet, but Liviu Mincu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jacinto Chaves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Palmeiras booed when MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Liviu Mincu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Palmeiras's defense didn't have a chance, in the 36th minute, when Dan Stelaru scored to the left of an out of position Jacinto Chaves, making the score, 4-0. Manuel Cozorici hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. A collision led to MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Mădălin Sitaru hit a great ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bernt Jønsson was the one to do the kick off. Liviu Mincu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 50th minute. Jacinto Chaves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jacinto Chaves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manuel Cozorici in the 52nd minute of play. When Leonardo Donato was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 53 minutes had been played. In the 53rd match minute, Palmeiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonardo Donato to maneuver through the defense. Jacinto Chaves came out of the goal in the 55th minute to try and stop a shot by MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV's Liviu Mincu. But to his dismay, Liviu Mincu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. Jacinto Chaves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Liviu Mincu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alfredão França hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Palmeiras's Jacinto Chaves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Liviu Mincu in the 61st minute of play. 62 minutes into the match, Manuel Cozorici notched a goal, 7-0, to the right of Palmeiras's Jacinto Chaves. Jacinto Chaves was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dan Stelaru in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jacinto Chaves prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to Palmeiras getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Fábio de Souza hit a great ball. Dan Stelaru might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jacinto Chaves. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dan Stelaru ran back to his position shaking his head. Jacinto Chaves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dan Stelaru in the 71st minute of the match. 73 minutes into the game, MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV's Dan Stelaru nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jacinto Chaves made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 8-0. Palmeiras's Jacinto Chaves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manuel Cozorici in the 78th minute of play. Dan Stelaru received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Jacinto Chaves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Palmeiras defense, Dan Stelaru kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jacinto Chaves. The Palmeiras fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jacinto Chaves should have stopped the shot. In the 87th minute, Dan Stelaru got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Liviu Mincu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 95 played minutes MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV got a freekick which was hit by Manuel Boteanu. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV had played much better football throughout.
