Marseille's Gustave Lechat was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 11 minutes into the match, Deportivo Peñarol FIFV's goal looked a bit too open when Luka Le Tiec came free, but Ladislao Mazurkiewicz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 12th match minute, Deportivo Peñarol FIFV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jaime Hori to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Dobromir Latocha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Deportivo Peñarol FIFV's supporters rose to their feet, but Dobromir Latocha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gustave Lechat breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 19 minutes R.C. Marseille's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Marcos Lustosa who took care of the corner kick. Gustave Lechat made an important save on a dangerous shot by Örjan Forssell in the 30th minute. In the 32nd minute of the match, Örjan Forssell got a very nice opportunity to score, but Gustave Lechat was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Gustave Lechat showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dobromir Latocha, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Ladislao Mazurkiewicz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulo Teinturier in the 42nd minute of the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Celio Campa couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Deportivo Peñarol FIFV's Jaime Hori got a free kick in the 59th minute. Ladislao Mazurkiewicz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bart Vetter in the 60th minute of play. Celio Campa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dobromir Latocha during the 67th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Dobromir Latocha hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Florent Travers managed to get in a good position for a shot. R.C. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 72nd match minute, R.C. Marseille was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Florent Travers to maneuver through the defense. If Örjan Forssell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Celio Campa came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Deportivo Peñarol FIFV fans jumped to their feet. In the 80th minute Örjan Forssell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustave Lechat saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paulo Teinturier might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ladislao Mazurkiewicz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Paulo Teinturier ran back to his position shaking his head. 84 minutes into the match, Deportivo Peñarol FIFV's goal looked a bit too open when Bart Vetter came free, but Ladislao Mazurkiewicz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ladislao Mazurkiewicz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulo Teinturier, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Jaime Hori took the ball and in the 86 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gustave Lechat. Gustave Lechat dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Celio Campa struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Gustave Lechat didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Deportivo Peñarol FIFV. 90 minutes into the match, Dobromir Latocha had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gustave Lechat. R.C. Marseille's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dobromir Latocha was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Deportivo Peñarol FIFV's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
