Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Bernt Jønsson kicked off to start the match. A collision led to R.C. Marseille getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Melvin Hug hit a great ball. Bart Vetter recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Palmeiras's Jacinto Chaves got control of the ball when Bart Vetter tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to R.C. Marseille getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Bart Vetter hit a great ball. In the 15th minute Bernt Jønsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustave Lechat saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 20th minute, Paulo Teinturier reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jacinto Chaves. The goal made the score 1-1. Jacinto Chaves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Florent Travers in the 24th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Palmeiras's Fábio de Souza got a free kick in the 26th minute. A collision led to Palmeiras getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Dorian Neves hit a great ball. Palmeiras's Jacinto Chaves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulo Teinturier in the 29th minute of play. After 31 minutes Palmeiras's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Florent Travers who took care of the corner kick. Ghenadie Furdui kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Jacinto Chaves made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bart Vetter in the 33rd minute. In the 34th minute, Florent Travers had to leave the field with a concussion. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Moisés Donato during the 34th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. R.C. Marseille's Émile Levert was substituted for Florent Travers. Moisés Donato hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. 37 minutes into the match, Palmeiras's goal looked a bit too open when Paulo Teinturier came free, but Jacinto Chaves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bart Vetter's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jacinto Chaves firmly grabbed it by the left post. 39 minutes into the match, R.C. Marseille's Paulo Teinturier sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jacinto Chaves narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 40 minutes had been played when some careless play by Palmeiras's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Roman Lheureux was slow to take the kick. During this time R.C. Marseille's players had a chance to rest. Palmeiras's Moisés Donato got his second yellow card of the match in the 45th minute. The referee ordered Moisés Donato off the ground. After a rather tough play, Palmeiras's Moisés Donato got a free kick in the 46th minute. Jacinto Chaves made an important save on a dangerous shot by Paulo Teinturier in the 47th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

In the 50th minute, Palmeiras's Bernt Jønsson ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gustave Lechat. Gustave Lechat yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. When R.C. Marseille's Paulo Teinturier in the 54th minute got a chance for a shot 54th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Palmeiras's goalie prevented a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Paulo Teinturier in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jacinto Chaves prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jacinto Chaves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo Teinturier in the 62nd minute of play. In the 63rd minute R.C. Marseille were awarded a corner. Roman Lheureux went to the cornerflag to take it. Émile Levert was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Bernt Jønsson came free with the goalkeeper in the 68th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Gustave Lechat could save by the left post. Francis Coignard's late challenge caught a Palmeiras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Francis Coignard helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Palmeiras booed when R.C. Marseille was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francis Coignard didn't get a good kick on the ball. R.C. Marseille's Gustave Lechat proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save R.C. Marseille from getting a goal against them. Bart Vetter might have been able to make a better finish in the 78th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jacinto Chaves. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bart Vetter ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Bernt Jønsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Palmeiras's supporters rose to their feet, but Bernt Jønsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gustave Lechat breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fábio de Souza hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Jacinto Chaves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulo Teinturier in the 91st minute of the match. In the 93rd minute, Wesley Fantini hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Palmeiras supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Palmeiras would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
