The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Elder Luz took the ball and in the 6 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Enrique Garikoitz. Enrique Garikoitz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Dorival Veloso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 10 minutes into the game, Elder Luz cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Enrique Garikoitz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 13 minutes into the match, &La vieja Guardia&'s goal looked a bit too open when Elder Luz came free, but Enrique Garikoitz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Elder Luz scored 0-3 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Enrique Garikoitz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 20th minute, Elder Luz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Enrique Garikoitz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. 22 minutes into the match, &La vieja Guardia&'s goal looked a bit too open when Dorival Veloso came free, but Enrique Garikoitz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Frederico Gomes might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Enrique Garikoitz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Frederico Gomes ran back to his position shaking his head. Zé Recife's late challenge caught a &La vieja Guardia&'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Zé Recife helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to S.E. Cachoeirinha getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Zé Recife hit a great ball. Dorival Veloso scored 0-5 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Enrique Garikoitz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 37th minute Elder Luz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Enrique Garikoitz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Elder Luz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Enrique Garikoitz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frederico Gomes, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Enrique Garikoitz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dorival Veloso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elder Luz in the 47th minute of play forced &La vieja Guardia&'s goalkeeper Enrique Garikoitz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

Enrique Garikoitz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dorival Veloso in the 55th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Elder Luz got free with Enrique Garikoitz in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Elder Luz in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Enrique Garikoitz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 63 minutes into the match, S.E. Cachoeirinha's Frederico Gomes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Enrique Garikoitz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Elder Luz took the ball and in the 64 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Enrique Garikoitz. Enrique Garikoitz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-7. Ramon Baleren charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ramon Baleren the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, &La vieja Guardia&'s Ramon Baleren got a free kick in the 75th minute. Enrique Garikoitz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Joaquim Freitas in the 76th minute. Enrique Garikoitz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elder Luz in the 78th minute of play. After some careless play in the &La vieja Guardia& defense, Elder Luz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Enrique Garikoitz. The &La vieja Guardia& fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Enrique Garikoitz should have stopped the shot. Dorival Veloso who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 86thth minute tested the skills of Enrique Garikoitz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Dorival Veloso scored 0-9 in the 90th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Enrique Garikoitz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of S.E. Cachoeirinha booed when &La vieja Guardia& was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Godfredo Hever didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match was over S.E. Cachoeirinha could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than &La vieja Guardia& throughout the match.
