When the match had gone on for 5 minutes, Conrado Maiorga put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Astor Belarmo. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Conrado Maiorga in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Astor Belarmo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Conrado Maiorga's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Astor Belarmo was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. Deportivo Diamante U18's Laureano Silvino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mauro Laspada in the 14th minute of play. 17 minutes into the match, Serbia y Mantonegro's goal looked a bit too open when Conrado Maiorga came free, but Astor Belarmo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 17th play minutes Conrado Maiorga shot 0-2, a short shot which went by Astor Belarmo and just under the crossbar into goal. If Victor Valiente had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of Serbia y Mantonegro booed when Deportivo Diamante U18 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernando Firme didn't get a good kick on the ball. Laureano Silvino made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Arsenio Itzaina sent off a good shot on target. In the 28th minute Ricky Centurión shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laureano Silvino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Astor Belarmo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amador Rafel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when German Beltran got free with Laureano Silvino in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 38 minutes, Conrado Maiorga made it 0-3 with a short kick to the right side. Serbia y Mantonegro's Astor Belarmo tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. When Deportivo Diamante U18's Conrado Maiorga in the 42nd minute got a chance for a shot 42nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Serbia y Mantonegro's goalie prevented a goal. Serbia y Mantonegro's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Lino Igon ran over to the corner to take the kick. The Serbia y Mantonegro players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Deportivo Diamante U18 were winning 0-4.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ricky Centurión made a kick off. Conrado Maiorga's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 59thth minute, Astor Belarmo skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Conrado Maiorga who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 63rdth minute tested the skills of Astor Belarmo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Conrado Maiorga had several of the Serbia y Mantonegro's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 63 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-5 score and a disappointed Astor Belarmo as he didn't even see the shot coming. Conrado Maiorga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Astor Belarmo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Conrado Maiorga's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Astor Belarmo firmly grabbed it by the left post. When the match clock showed 70 minutes, the score became 0-6 when Conrado Maiorga sped through Serbia y Mantonegro's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Astor Belarmo. With an all-out effort, Deportivo Diamante U18's Astor Belarmo threw himself towards the right post 82 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Leonides Dalmau, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 84th minute of the match Deportivo Diamante U18 got a corner. Serbia y Mantonegro's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Lino Igon ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 85th minute, Lino Igon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by German Beltran in the 87th minute of play forced Deportivo Diamante U18's goalkeeper Laureano Silvino to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 89th minute, one of Serbia y Mantonegro:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Serbia y Mantonegro. Astor Belarmo had in the 91stth minute some difficulties stopping Lino Igon's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball.
