Sebastian Frey had great luck who in the 11thth minute grab hold of the ball when Reinaud Vrijdag from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. In the 13th minute of the match Royal Antwerp FC got a corner. Real Murçia FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Filip den Ronden ran over to the corner to take the kick. Willem-Jan Verhaert could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Sebastian Frey made a huge save. Willem-Jan Verhaert's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Sebastian Frey firmly grabbed it by the left post. 19 minutes into the game, Robert Billock cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Bart-Jan Van De Beeck was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Bart-Jan Van De Beeck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Robert Billock, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bart-Jan Van De Beeck showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robert Billock, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Josep Sagnol hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. A hard shot 30 in the game by Willem-Jan Verhaert from a close distance when the talented Sebastian Frey managed to make a qualified save. It was beautiful to see Real Murçia FC's Johannes Keller in action when he in the 46th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Willem-Jan Verhaert stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gilberto Carretero took the ball and in the 52 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bart-Jan Van De Beeck. Bart-Jan Van De Beeck dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. The audience was convinced that Willem-Jan Verhaert's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sebastian Frey was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. Bart-Jan Van De Beeck was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Gilberto Carretero showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-4 in the 57 minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Willem-Jan Verhaert in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sebastian Frey saved Real Murçia FC from getting behind. The Royal Antwerp FC fans' excitement grew in the 65th match minute when Royal Antwerp FC's Willem-Jan Verhaert looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 68th minute Alfredo Fiori shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bart-Jan Van De Beeck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 77thth minute of the game Willem-Jan Verhaert who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Real Murçia FC's Sebastian Frey was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The tension between the Royal Antwerp FC and the Real Murçia FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Royal Antwerp FC getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. In the 82nd minute Robert Billock shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bart-Jan Van De Beeck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 84 minutes into the game, Gilberto Carretero cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-5. Bart-Jan Van De Beeck was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Bart-Jan Van De Beeck came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by Real Murçia FC's Gilberto Carretero. But to his dismay, Gilberto Carretero quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-6. In the 91st minute, Robert Billock left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Real Murçia FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-7. Reinaud Vrijdag scored 3-7 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sebastian Frey, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Real Murçia FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
