Luis Nardo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Niceto Ihazintu in the 23rd minute. Niceto Ihazintu might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luis Nardo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Niceto Ihazintu ran back to his position shaking his head. Niceto Ihazintu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Luis Nardo made a huge save. In the 28th minute, Fernando Hierro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lukáš Katačić sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. If Niceto Ihazintu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Niceto Ihazintu in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luis Nardo saved Florida Gulf Coast from getting behind. Eleuterio Fiz's late challenge caught a Caatiba MZC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eleuterio Fiz helped the player get up and apologised. Nuno Mattos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Luis Nardo having to make a save. Luis Nardo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nuno Mattos, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. After 84 played minutes Florida Gulf Coast got a freekick which was hit by Eleuterio Fiz. Florida Gulf Coast's Luis Nardo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nuno Mattos in the 92nd minute of play. Caatiba MZC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
