Haroldo Pastore guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Haroldo Pastore made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Serafin Theodore in the 12th minute of play. In the 13th minute Serafin Theodore shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Haroldo Pastore saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Atlético Nacional's Vicente Sasoin slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Haroldo Pastore. That made the score 2-0 after 14 minutes of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Everardo Johans got free with Haroldo Pastore in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nemesio Damario's late challenge caught a MFD Eindhoven's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nemesio Damario helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of MFD Eindhoven booed when Atlético Nacional was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nemesio Damario didn't get a good kick on the ball. MFD Eindhoven's Haroldo Pastore proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save MFD Eindhoven from getting a goal against them. In the 23rdth minute of the game Vicente Sasoin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but MFD Eindhoven's Haroldo Pastore was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 26 minutes into the match, MFD Eindhoven's goal looked a bit too open when Vicente Sasoin came free, but Haroldo Pastore reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Haroldo Pastore, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 28th minute of the match, Celestino Rudolfo tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Haroldo Pastore saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line.
