In the 24th minute, Ferdinand Redondo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Timoteo Columbo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rui Furtado's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Primo Speranza read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 50th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Leon Matthäus got free with Pablo Lohitzun in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Primo Speranza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jeff Damen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Leon Matthäus struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Pablo Lohitzun didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Academia 1903. When the match was over Academia 1903 could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Asesinos Por Naturaleza throughout the match.
