Menchu FC's Camilo Salvidor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trey Echols in the 14th minute of play. Gabriele Batistuta could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Jarrod Leary made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in Racing Miami Futbol Club's zone, Roberto Carlo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jarrod Leary came out of the goal and Roberto Carlo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

54 minutes into the match, Menchu FC's Gabriele Batistuta sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jarrod Leary narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Racing Miami Futbol Club's Truman Crockett was substituted for Rodney Hagen. A sloppy throw-in by Dave Sylvester in the 63rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Menchu FC's Roberto Carlo. Menchu FC's Gaston Firmo was substituted for Uriel Gorri. Menchu FC's Arturo Roderigo was substituted for Peter Söderqwist. After 69 minutes Menchu FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Truman Crockett who took care of the corner kick. In the 73rd minute Truman Crockett shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Camilo Salvidor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jarrod Leary showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gaston Firmo, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. The supporters of Racing Miami Futbol Club booed when Menchu FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Salvidor came out of the goal and Truman Crockett tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Camilo Salvidor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Truman Crockett, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Osvaldinho Ósvaldsson in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Camilo Salvidor prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some careless play in the Racing Miami Futbol Club defense, Abdoulay Doucouré kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jarrod Leary. The Racing Miami Futbol Club fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jarrod Leary should have stopped the shot. Jarrod Leary made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abdoulay Doucouré in the 89th minute of play. 91 minutes into the match, Racing Miami Futbol Club's goal looked a bit too open when Gaston Firmo came free, but Jarrod Leary reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Truman Crockett came free with the goalkeeper in the 92nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Camilo Salvidor could save by the left post.
