The audience was convinced that Rigoberto Lozano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cesario Roma was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. In the 12th minute of the match Buenaventura FC got a corner. BFC 1982's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Leandro Corderro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Eduardo Ramos having to interfere. The supporters of BFC 1982 booed when Buenaventura FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kurt Angel didn't get a good kick on the ball. But to his dismay, Rigoberto Lozano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 44 minutes into the match, Buenaventura FC's Walter Bock sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cesario Roma narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The BFC 1982 players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Buenaventura FC were winning 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Walter Bock was the one to do the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leandro Corderro during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 51st match minute, BFC 1982 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leandro Corderro to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgardo Txaran in the 90th minute of play forced Buenaventura FC's goalkeeper Carlos Eduardo Ramos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the BFC 1982 defense, Rigoberto Lozano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cesario Roma. The BFC 1982 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cesario Roma should have stopped the shot. Buenaventura FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
