After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Percy Bertassi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bahia's José Augusto Alcântara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rusi Moskal in the 25th minute of play. The referee ignored Bahia's protests and gave Waldemar Lara a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Bahia getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Magno Botelho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Percy Bertassi, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. After 68 played minutes Bahia got a freekick which was hit by Waldemar Lara. José Augusto Alcântara took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rusi Moskal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 92 minutes into the match, Hernani Correia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Magno Botelho. Belisca Xana Sport Club ®'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hernani Correia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-3. For all the effort they put into the match, the Belisca Xana Sport Club ® players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Bahia.
