The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 3 played minutes Sonstorps Fotboll got a freekick which was hit by Ulrik Isaksson. In the 6th match minute, Barsa FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Artemio Lehen to maneuver through the defense. Sonstorps Fotboll's Jens-Ola Mellberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mariano Heriberto in the 11th minute of play. After 12 minutes, Isidoro Barto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Barsa FC and the Sonstorps Fotboll players grew even worse after the yellow card. Abelardo Eneas might have been able to make a better finish in the 19th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jens-Ola Mellberg. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Abelardo Eneas ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 21st match minute, Sonstorps Fotboll was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfons Sjögren to maneuver through the defense. Jens-Ola Mellberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abelardo Eneas, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Jens-Ola Mellberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abelardo Eneas in the 27th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Sonstorps Fotboll defense, Abelardo Eneas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jens-Ola Mellberg. The Sonstorps Fotboll fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jens-Ola Mellberg should have stopped the shot. Jens-Ola Mellberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abelardo Eneas in the 37th minute of the match. Jens-Ola Mellberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abelardo Eneas in the 38th minute of play. The supporters of Sonstorps Fotboll booed when Barsa FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Artemio Lehen didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Ulrik Isaksson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sonstorps Fotboll's goalkeeper Jens-Ola Mellberg, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Ulrik Isaksson made the kick off in the second half. Isidoro Barto was shown his second yellow card after 51 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Isidoro Barto kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. In the 58th minute, Matthias Kjellman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The long shot by Arnaldo Guerrero in the 59th minute really tested Jens-Ola Mellberg's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Victoriano Feliz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Torsten Haraldsson during the 71st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 72 played minutes Sonstorps Fotboll got a freekick which was hit by Torsten Haraldsson. Arnaldo Guerrero, 72 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. A collision led to Barsa FC getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Abelardo Eneas hit a great ball. After having played for 83 minutes, Victoriano Feliz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barsa FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Victoriano Feliz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Teodosio Nahia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ulrik Isaksson in the 90th minute of play. Victoriano Feliz had several of the Sonstorps Fotboll's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 91 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-2 score and a disappointed Jens-Ola Mellberg as he didn't even see the shot coming. The Barsa FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Barsa FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
