After a rather tough play, Metal Juniors's Eloy Gaufred got a free kick in the 4th minute. 7 minutes into the game, Martín Palermo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Aldo Hawk was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martín Palermo in the 12th minute of play forced Atlético Patoruzu's goalkeeper Aldo Hawk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Martín Palermo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The Metal Juniors fans' excitement grew in the 30th match minute when Metal Juniors's Martín Palermo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 34 played minutes Metal Juniors got a freekick which was hit by Jonatan Dantae. In the 35th minute of the match Willie Staton sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Daniel Păvăloae skillfully saved the ball. Metal Juniors's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jonatan Dantae in the 38th minute. Martín Palermo took the ball and in the 40 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Aldo Hawk. Aldo Hawk dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Wiley Boyle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 47 minutes into the match, Metal Juniors's goalkeeper Daniel Păvăloae had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Moreno Torricelli. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Martín Palermo was the one to do the kick off. Metal Juniors's Martín Palermo pulled a muscle in his back after 54 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 54 minutes, Dom Bosch mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atlético Patoruzu and the Metal Juniors players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Metal Juniors booed when Atlético Patoruzu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dom Bosch didn't get a good kick on the ball. 56 minutes into the match, Sergio Dennis notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Atlético Patoruzu's Aldo Hawk. Aldo Hawk was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 61 minutes into the match, Metal Juniors's goal looked a bit too open when Moreno Torricelli came free, but Daniel Păvăloae reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 66th minute, Sergio Dennis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Aldo Hawk was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. Willie Staton made in the 71st minute of the game a quick throw-in and Marcelo-Luis Butcher immediately put the ball in play. The Atlético Patoruzu fans' excitement grew in the 80th match minute when Atlético Patoruzu's Valentim Leão looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-5 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Sergio Dennis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aldo Hawk having to interfere. Aldo Hawk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sergio Dennis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Willie Staton hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Aldo Hawk was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Miguel Sotero. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Metal Juniors walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
