In the 18th minute Feliciano Belmiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aldo Hawk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Best Castray showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gualterio Aguirre, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. It was a well-played corner which Wiley Boyle managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Atlético Patoruzu's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Eduardo Eztebe ran over to the corner to take the kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juan Pueblo in the 90th minute of play forced Atlético Patoruzu's goalkeeper Aldo Hawk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 92nd minute, Marcelo-Luis Butcher left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Atlético Patoruzu fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Atlético Patoruzu eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
