Francisco Medina's late challenge caught a Castanheiro SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Francisco Medina helped the player get up and apologised. In the 8th match minute, Amboy FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Medina to maneuver through the defense. Severiano Santo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Magno Pereira, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. In the 13th minute, Castanheiro SC's Magno Pereira dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. 17 minutes into the game, Nilson Veloso was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Castanheiro SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Amboy FC the free kick. Nilson Veloso hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. In the 19th minute, Castanheiro SC's Célio Vianna seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Célio Vianna the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Castanheiro SC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Célio Vianna had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 18 minutes into the game, one of Castanheiro SC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Zé Vo scored 1-1 in the 20th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Pedrinho Guimarães, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Umberto Dionísio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Severiano Santo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Severiano Santo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benedito Mineiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. In the 32nd minute Zé Vo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedrinho Guimarães saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pedrinho Guimarães took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Vo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zé Vo made a kick off. If Florencio Bento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 55 played minutes Castanheiro SC got a freekick which was hit by Nilson Veloso. In the 57th play minute Zé Vo came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Pedrinho Guimarães. 1-2. If Maximino Aznaro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benedito Mineiro scored 2-2 in the 71st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Severiano Santo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Florencio Bento in the 75th minute of play forced Castanheiro SC's goalkeeper Pedrinho Guimarães to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Amboy FC defense, Umberto Dionísio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Severiano Santo. The Amboy FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Severiano Santo should have stopped the shot. Castanheiro SC made a substitution. Marcelo Eger replaced Anísio Alagoano.
