He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Kryspin Wyrostek. With his leg Kryspin Wyrostek managed to avoid a goal in the 26thth minute, when Eendracht Vooruit's Bas Van der Vloedt fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Gilbert Van Den Abeele's late challenge caught a Newcastle United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bas Van der Vloedt to make the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bas Van der Vloedt in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kryspin Wyrostek prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Felix Laremans showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olaf Jestrimski, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. After having played for 63 minutes, Olaf Jestrimski managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newcastle United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Olaf Jestrimski was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
