The supporters of Newcastle United booed when Bruly was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alan Wiechgers didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match clock showed 33 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Remigiusz Bronkala sped through Bruly's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Garry Vercauteren. Garry Vercauteren showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barnaba Borcz, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Bruly's Garry Vercauteren played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Barnaba Borcz in the 37th minute of play. In the 39th minute, Bruly's Toon Uijterhove seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Toon Uijterhove the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Bruly protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Toon Uijterhove had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 38th minute of the game. One of Bruly:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Newcastle United:s goal. Garry Vercauteren showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tanek Rakowski in the 42nd minute of the match. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 56th minute Barnaba Borcz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Garry Vercauteren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Bruly fans' excitement grew in the 65th match minute when Bruly's Frederic Wuttemans looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The audience thought a goal was coming when Barnaba Borcz got free with Garry Vercauteren in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 85 minutes into the game, Tanek Rakowski recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Garry Vercauteren. Tanek Rakowski showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-5. Kenney Theys's late challenge caught a Newcastle United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kenney Theys helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Bruly getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Kenney Theys hit a great ball. The Bruly supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Newcastle United's performance. The match ended with a win for Newcastle United.
