Olger Azofeifa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Velislav Tzapov in the 8th minute of the match. Elbert Gudov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 64th minute Mainor Calderon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stoyadin Shahov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 69 minutes of play, U21 Costa Rica's Felipe Porras made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Stoyadin Shahov was left in no man's land by his defense there! Humberto Herrera might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Stoyadin Shahov. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Stoyadin Shahov was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 89thth minute of the game Felipe Porras who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Bulgaria's Stoyadin Shahov was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 90th minute U21 Costa Rica were awarded a corner. Mićo Grande went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 95th minute, Mainor Calderon ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Stoyadin Shahov was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The U21 Costa Rica fans cheered their team off the field, for while U21 Bulgaria had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
