Brady Erickson charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Brady Erickson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 3 played minutes Toronto United got a freekick which was hit by Brady Erickson. Rolf Leslie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 7 minutes into the game, Norberto Carey was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Toronto United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gremio NG the free kick. After 7 played minutes Toronto United got a freekick which was hit by Norberto Carey. Rodrigo Cordeiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Giovani Tróia during the 11th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Gremio NG's Giovani Tróia got a free kick in the 11th minute. 13 minutes into the match, Rodrigo Cordeiro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of William Nance. Toronto United's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rodrigo Cordeiro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Wesley Cardoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hayden Laframboise, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wesley Cardoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rolf Leslie's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. 25 minutes into the match, Toronto United's goal looked a bit too open when Alan Aguiar came free, but William Nance reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rodrigo Cordeiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but William Nance read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. If Giovanni dos Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rodrigo Cordeiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without William Nance having to interfere. In the 36th minute, Moses Stratton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. William Nance made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodrigo Cordeiro in the 42nd minute of play. With his leg Wesley Cardoso managed to avoid a goal in the 46thth minute, when Toronto United's Rolf Leslie fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

After a defensive mix-up in Gremio NG's zone, Moses Stratton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wesley Cardoso came out of the goal and Moses Stratton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Moses Stratton in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wesley Cardoso prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 59th match minute, Gremio NG was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Giovani Tróia to maneuver through the defense. Wesley Cardoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rolf Leslie in the 61st minute of the match. Gremio NG's Wesley Cardoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rolf Leslie in the 63rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Gremio NG's Anderson Toscano got a free kick in the 64th minute. In the 66th match minute, Gremio NG was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anderson Toscano to maneuver through the defense. 69 minutes into the match, Gremio NG's goal looked a bit too open when Rolf Leslie came free, but Wesley Cardoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rolf Leslie scored 1-1 in the 69th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wesley Cardoso, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Wesley Cardoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rolf Leslie, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. After 80 minutes Gremio NG's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Hayden Laframboise who took care of the corner kick. Toronto United's Hayden Laframboise was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Wesley Cardoso in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rolf Leslie in the 82nd minute of play forced Gremio NG's goalkeeper Wesley Cardoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Hayden Laframboise fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Toronto United's protests and gave Hayden Laframboise a yellow card for diving instead. In the 87th minute, Hayden Laframboise hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 89 minutes, Winfred Varela put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Wesley Cardoso. Toronto United walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
