The supporters of Toronto United booed when Deportivo Ortegano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francesco Samano didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 11 played minutes Toronto United got a freekick which was hit by Dirk Banks. In the 12th minute of the match Sesuldo Vellon shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but William Nance showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 13th minute, Deportivo Ortegano's Aztore Cobian seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Aztore Cobian the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Deportivo Ortegano protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Aztore Cobian had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After a rather tough play, Deportivo Ortegano's Aztore Cobian got a free kick in the 14th minute. In the 15th minute, Hayden Laframboise got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After recieving a nice pass, Deportivo Ortegano's Sesuldo Vellon tried to score from far away in the 18th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Jacinto Pamanes scored 2-0 in the 20th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of William Nance, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Francesco Terrazos didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Willian Mainville went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Francesco Samano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Deportivo Ortegano's supporters rose to their feet, but Francesco Samano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. William Nance breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 32nd minute, Jacinto Pamanes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 33 played minutes Toronto United got a freekick which was hit by Norberto Carey. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jacinto Pamanes in the 38th minute of play forced Toronto United's goalkeeper William Nance to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. William Nance showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Francesco Samano, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. William Nance didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 43rd minute, which inside left pole to 3-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rolf Leslie was the one to do the kick off. Brun Cubillas ran back to his position shaking his head. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jacinto Pamanes in the 67th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg William Nance saved Toronto United from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Winfred Varela in the 74th minute of play forced Deportivo Ortegano's goalkeeper Francesco Terrazos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sesuldo Vellon hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. A hard shot by Norberto Carey from long distance, 80 minutes into the match, got Francesco Terrazos's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Deportivo Ortegano's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
