Håkan Šuker took the ball and in the 6 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Andreas Lips. Andreas Lips dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 8 minutes into the game, Håkan Šuker cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Andreas Lips was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Elias Millrick sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Andreas Lips took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Håkan Šuker, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 22 minutes had been played when some careless play by Montevideo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Hans Bergfelt was slow to take the kick. During this time La Cosa Nostra's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Elias Millrick heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Andreas Lips showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Håkan Šuker, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Håkan Šuker in the 28th minute of play forced Montevideo's goalkeeper Andreas Lips to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Andreas Lips made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hans Bergfelt in the 31st minute of play. After 32 minutes of play, La Cosa Nostra's Håkan Šuker made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Andreas Lips was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, La Cosa Nostra's Gustavo Severiano got a free kick in the 34th minute. Andreas Lips came out of the goal in the 37th minute to try and stop a shot by La Cosa Nostra's Håkan Šuker. But to his dismay, Håkan Šuker quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. After 42nd play minutes Håkan Šuker shot 0-5, a short shot which went by Andreas Lips and just under the crossbar into goal. Andreas Lips showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elias Millrick, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Håkan Šuker made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Montevideo's goalkeeper Andreas Lips had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Håkan Šuker. Andreas Lips made an important save on a dangerous shot by Håkan Šuker in the 52nd minute. In the 56th minute Gonçalo Mello shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sonny Alén saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Andreas Lips made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Håkan Šuker in the 57th minute of play. Agostinho Salgado made in the 61st minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Leandro Brito however managed to control. Ahmet Boran Tekinalp took the ball and in the 81 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Andreas Lips. Andreas Lips dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-8. João Paulo de Alcântara took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sonny Alén. Sonny Alén dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-8. After a rather tough play, Montevideo's Edvaldo Urbano got a free kick in the 89th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Hans Bergfelt managed to get in a good position for a shot. La Cosa Nostra's supporters rose to their feet, but Hans Bergfelt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Andreas Lips breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the match had gone on for 92 minutes, Håkan Šuker took a quick shot and it went in 1-9 without a chance for Andreas Lips to make any attempt to save it. Zé Roberto Martins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sonny Alén having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded La Cosa Nostra left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Montevideo.
