The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd minute, Georg Borre hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Montevideo's Wilson Fernandez shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 3rd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Eric Fransson but with some difficulty. In the 6th match minute, Polar Ice Caps was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arnulfo Riba to maneuver through the defense. When Montevideo's Laerte Lucas in the 7th minute got a chance for a shot 7th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Polar Ice Caps's goalie prevented a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ralf Nyberg in the 10th minute of play forced Montevideo's goalkeeper Ronaldo Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eric Fransson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Christian Passos in the 13th minute of the match. In the 15th match minute, Montevideo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bray McJon to maneuver through the defense. Laerte Lucas had several of the Polar Ice Caps's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 17 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Eric Fransson as he didn't even see the shot coming. Ronaldo Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ralf Nyberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 20thth minute of the game Ralf Nyberg who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Montevideo's Ronaldo Medeiros was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Laerte Lucass short, quick shot in the 26thth minute got Eric Fransson to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. A hard shot 30 in the game by Laerte Lucas from a close distance when the talented Eric Fransson managed to make a qualified save. Polar Ice Caps's players were relieved. After a rather tough play, Polar Ice Caps's Stellan Sellberg got a free kick in the 31st minute. Laerte Lucas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eric Fransson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laerte Lucas in the 33rd minute of play forced Polar Ice Caps's goalkeeper Eric Fransson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 34th minute, Natanael de Godoi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ronaldo Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Shi Hao Yuan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Polar Ice Caps's Eric Fransson got control of the ball when Laerte Lucas tried to sneak it across the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Laerte Lucas to make the kick off. Eric Fransson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laerte Lucas, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. The supporters of Polar Ice Caps booed when Montevideo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mário Maranhense didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 63 played minutes Montevideo got a freekick which was hit by Zeca de Alcântara. When Ralf Nyberg fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Polar Ice Caps's protests and gave Ralf Nyberg a yellow card for diving instead. Ralf Nyberg hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Laerte Lucas in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eric Fransson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Eric Fransson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laerte Lucas in the 69th minute of play. Ronaldo Medeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stellan Sellberg in the 71st minute of play. The Montevideo fans' excitement grew in the 72nd match minute when Montevideo's Laerte Lucas looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Polar Ice Caps's Eric Fransson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernandão Recife in the 75th minute of play. In the 77th minute, Kristian Eriksson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 78th minute, Laerte Lucas made a precise shot to the right of Eric Fransson. Polar Ice Caps's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-0. The crowd rose to their feet as Stellan Sellberg kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ronaldo Medeiros. That made the score 5-1 in the 81 minute of play. Laerte Lucas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eric Fransson having to interfere.
