A very good chance for a goal. 11 minutes into the match, C.A.River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Cristobal Eneto came free, but Pierre-Alexandre von Buol-Schaudenstein reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 14 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Deportivo Marplatense! 15 minutes into the game, C.A.River Plate's Sun Shi Xi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mikael Sjögren made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Deportivo Marplatense's Mikael Sjögren played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Talha Özakan in the 23rd minute of play. Pierre-Alexandre von Buol-Schaudenstein made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Cristobal Eneto sent off a good shot on target. In the 30th minute, Cristobal Eneto left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Deportivo Marplatense fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Mikael Sjögren showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sun Shi Xi in the 36th minute of the match. Mikael Sjögren showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sun Shi Xi, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. After a rather tough play, Deportivo Marplatense's Cristobal Eneto got a free kick in the 47th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sun Shi Xi to make the kick off. If Fulgencio Maureo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Talha Özakan's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 56thth minute, Mikael Sjögren skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 58th minute, Sun Shi Xi fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 61st minute, Albano Peter hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sun Shi Xi's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Mikael Sjögren firmly grabbed it by the left post. Mikael Sjögren made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Talha Özakan sent off a good shot on target. If Cristobal Eneto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 74 minutes into the match, Deportivo Marplatense's goalkeeper Mikael Sjögren had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Talha Özakan. Sun Shi Xi did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-2 to the left of a surprised Mikael Sjögren 75 minutes into the match. In the 79th minute, Sun Shi Xi made a precise shot to the right of Mikael Sjögren. Deportivo Marplatense's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Adolfo Raebert kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Sun Shi Xi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Mikael Sjögren tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Talha Özakan in the 87th minute of play forced Deportivo Marplatense's goalkeeper Mikael Sjögren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mikael Sjögren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sun Shi Xi in the 92nd minute of play. C.A.River Plate played a much better game than Deportivo Marplatense and deserved their victory. The Deportivo Marplatense players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
