After 5 minutes Polar Ice Caps's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Wilson Fernandez who took care of the corner kick. A very nice done corner allowed Norberto Tande to score against Eric Fransson in Polar Ice Caps's goal. 0-1 after 6 minutes. In the 9th match minute, Polar Ice Caps was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stellan Sellberg to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laerte Lucas in the 10th minute of play forced Polar Ice Caps's goalkeeper Eric Fransson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Montevideo's Ronaldo Medeiros got control of the ball when Jack Lundblad tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Polar Ice Caps getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Stellan Sellberg hit a great ball. In the 16th minute Laerte Lucas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eric Fransson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Polar Ice Caps getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. André Botvidsson hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Laerte Lucas in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eric Fransson saved Polar Ice Caps from getting behind. Montevideo's Laerte Lucas got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 21 minutes into the game, one of Polar Ice Caps:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Montevideo a penalty, 24 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Wilson Fernandez, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Polar Ice Caps's Eric Fransson. 0-2. 28 minutes into the match, Polar Ice Caps's goal looked a bit too open when Laerte Lucas came free, but Eric Fransson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 30 minutes into the game, Bray McJon cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Eric Fransson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The Montevideo fans' excitement grew in the 34th match minute when Montevideo's Laerte Lucas looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 45th minute, Olavo Matorin made a precise shot to the right of Eric Fransson. Polar Ice Caps's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-6. After the first half Montevideo were leading 0-6. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 51st minute Fernandão Recife shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eric Fransson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 55 minutes of play, Polar Ice Caps's Jack Lundblad made it 1-6 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ronaldo Medeiros was left in no man's land by his defense there! Montevideo's Fernandão Recife got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Róbert Čaplovič hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. Montevideo were awarded a corner in the 65th minute after Polar Ice Caps's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Wilson Fernandez took the corner. Eric Fransson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laerte Lucas in the 66th minute of play. Fernandão Recife's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eric Fransson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. 72 minutes had been played when some careless play by Polar Ice Caps's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Wilson Fernandez was slow to take the kick. During this time Montevideo's players had a chance to rest. Shi Hao Yuan made in the 75th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Montevideo's Christian Passos. Eric Fransson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilson Fernandez in the 77th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Laerte Lucas kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Eric Fransson. That made the score 1-7 in the 78 minute of play. After 81 played minutes Polar Ice Caps got a freekick which was hit by Dennis Malmberg. The supporters of Montevideo booed when Polar Ice Caps was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ildefonso Reynardo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Montevideo played a much better game than Polar Ice Caps and deserved their victory. The Polar Ice Caps players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
