The referee ignored Catugi FC's protests and gave Reginaldo Veiga a yellow card for diving instead. Montevideo made a substitution. Jonathan Reis replaced Celsinho de Almeida. Reginaldo Veiga scored 1-2 in the 47th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Oleg Timofeev, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dudu Borges was the one to do the kick off. In the 93rd minute, Nando de Alcântara hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Catugi FC's Folke Österlund played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by André Luiz Amaral in the 99th minute of play. When the match was over Catugi FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Montevideo throughout the match.
