The audience was convinced that Sydney da Cunha's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gigi Buffon was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. Ajax's Gigi Buffon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Eduardo Peres in the 14th minute of play. Afonso Monteiro hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. A collision led to Leões do Sul 53 getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Afonso Monteiro hit a great ball. 22 minutes into the match, Leões do Sul 53's goal looked a bit too open when Fryderyk Czciborek came free, but Willian Lucas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gigi Buffon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arne Kullander, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. With a little luck, Leões do Sul 53's Willian Lucas got control of the ball when Remigiusz Galaska tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jaroslaw Lepper charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jaroslaw Lepper the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 30th match minute, Ajax was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jaroslaw Lepper to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Ajax booed when Leões do Sul 53 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Vides didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gigi Buffon came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Leões do Sul 53's Carlos Eduardo Peres. But to his dismay, Carlos Eduardo Peres quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Remigiusz Galaska blasted a shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Willian Lucas having to make a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Eduardo Peres got free with Gigi Buffon in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Arne Kullander had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 66 minutes into the match, Ajax's goal looked a bit too open when Sydney da Cunha came free, but Gigi Buffon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leões do Sul 53's Willian Lucas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Remigiusz Galaska in the 74th minute of play. Gigi Buffon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sydney da Cunha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Arne Kullander fell near the penalty area in the 80th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Leões do Sul 53's protests and gave Arne Kullander a yellow card for diving instead. In the 83rd minute, Carlos Eduardo Peres got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 87th minute, Carlos Eduardo Peres made a precise shot to the right of Gigi Buffon. Ajax's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Lauro Cearense hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. Gigi Buffon made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Carlos Eduardo Peres sent off a good shot on target. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Leões do Sul 53 had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
