The audience thought a goal was coming when Håkan Šuker got free with Gigi Buffon in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 28th minute, Hans Bergfelt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 30 minutes into the match, Ajax's goalkeeper Gigi Buffon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Håkan Šuker. This resulted in a 4-0 score and a disappointed Gigi Buffon as he didn't even see the shot coming. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Walery Nowacki was the one to do the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Håkan Šuker in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gigi Buffon prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 56th minute of the game Wojciech Mietus made a throw-in which Tomasz Sierocki played forward. 59 minutes into the game, Stasio Marek threw the ball into play from the sideline. La Cosa Nostra's Ricardo Araújo quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Ajax's Gigi Buffon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Håkan Šuker in the 60th minute of play. After 67 minutes, Pedro Pedroso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the La Cosa Nostra and the Ajax players grew even worse after the yellow card. But to his dismay, Håkan Šuker quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. Håkan Šuker's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gigi Buffon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. A well done corner resulted in Håkan Šuker drilling the ball in to score 6-0 behind Ajax's goalkeeper. La Cosa Nostra's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
