Jacinto Galeno could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Fausto da Rocha made a huge save. After 43 played minutes AFC - Curitiba got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Fábio Borges. In the 46th minute Jacinto Galeno shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fausto da Rocha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Eusebio Beltran made a kick off.
