In the 18th minute of the match, Alfred Wyrzykowski tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Konstanty Wawro saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After 20 minutes of play, Rega Merida CF's Nistor Sârban made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lew Yashin was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Nistor Sârban in the 25th minute of play forced Modlau's goalkeeper Lew Yashin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rega Merida CF's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Filcho Dzhagarov in the 26th minute. Wasyl Dziurowicz was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Lew Yashin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nistor Sârban, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Nistor Sârban did an outstanding performance 44 minutes into the match, when he by himself got past the opposing team's defense and with a quick scored 1-2 to the right of an irritated Lew Yashin in the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Barry McCray made a kick off. In the 51st minute, Damazy Jucha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 53rd minute, Nistor Sârban got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lew Yashin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nistor Sârban in the 54th minute of the match. 55 minutes into the game, Rega Merida CF's Nistor Sârban nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lew Yashin made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Wasyl Dziurowicz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out.
