An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Fernando Veloso in the 31st minute of play forced Nana FC's goalkeeper Tostão de Andrade to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tostão de Andrade came out of the goal in the 43rd minute to try and stop a shot by Galo do Japi's Marco Eger. But to his dismay, Marco Eger quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jorginho Linares was the one to do the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paul Stanley got free with Tostão de Andrade in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gene Simons in the 60th minute of play forced Nana FC's goalkeeper Tostão de Andrade to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 65th minute Carlinhos Romero collided with an opponent which caused him a fractured collar bone. After 65 minutes, Marco Eger mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Galo do Japi and the Nana FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Nana FC made a substitution. Olívio Fonseca replaced Carlinhos Romero. A collision led to Galo do Japi getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Gene Simons hit a great ball. Tostão de Andrade was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Gene Simons showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-4 in the 77 minute of play. The Galo do Japi supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Galo do Japi would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
