After a defensive mix-up in Vasco Mineiro FC's zone, Amado Vigário stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eduardo Moura came out of the goal and Amado Vigário tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 18th match minute, Vasco Mineiro FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edu Cunha to maneuver through the defense. Eduardo Moura showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Viana in the 19th minute of the match. 34 minutes into the game, Aloísio Garcez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. The supporters of Vasco Mineiro FC booed when Garanhão do SUL was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Torcato Rebocho didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 66th minute, André Luiz Pernambucano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 69 minutes into the game, Garanhão do SUL's Edgar Costa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot.
