Leeds's defense didn't have a chance, in the 40th minute, when Luiz Guilherme Barreto scored to the left of an out of position Pál Benkó, making the score, 3-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mihály Szikora made a kick off. Roland Havass short, quick shot in the 54thth minute got Reinaldo Queiroz to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. A collision led to Várzea F.C. getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Gilson Neves hit a great ball. The long shot by Gábor Kádár in the 57th minute really tested Reinaldo Queiroz's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The supporters of Leeds booed when Várzea F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benjamim de Moraes didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jano Paiva in the 71st minute of play forced Leeds's goalkeeper Pál Benkó to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
