Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Nelsinho Marinho got the match started through his kick off. 3 minutes into the game, Claes Linquist was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Arsenal FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palestra do Interior the free kick. Claes Linquist kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. After 4 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Arsenal FC! In the 8th minute Ronaldo Pirani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Harald Mogren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Harald Mogren was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Nelsinho Marinho showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 10 minute of play. After 15 played minutes Arsenal FC got a freekick which was hit by Mark Flink. Harald Mogren had great luck who in the 16thth minute grab hold of the ball when Ronaldo Pirani from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Arsenal FC's Harald Mogren proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Arsenal FC from getting a goal against them. 19 minutes into the match, Arsenal FC's goal looked a bit too open when Doni Pimenta came free, but Harald Mogren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 21st minute, Doni Pimenta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 23 minutes into the match, Palestra do Interior's goal looked a bit too open when Eddie Åberg came free, but Antônio Carlos Cavalcante reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 25th minute, Ronaldo Pirani hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Karl-Oskar Törnblom recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Arsenal FC's Birger Nordström got a free kick in the 28th minute. In the 31st minute, Erling Torstensson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Palestra do Interior's Nelsinho Marinho got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 35 minutes, Birger Nordström mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Arsenal FC and the Palestra do Interior players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Palestra do Interior booed when Arsenal FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Birger Nordström didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Per-Åke Albäck had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Harald Mogren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nelsinho Marinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 47 minutes into the match, Arsenal FC's goalkeeper Harald Mogren had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nelsinho Marinho. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eddie Åberg to strike the kick off in the second half. Sérgio Cruz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Harald Mogren tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 56th minute, Arsenal FC's Eddie Åberg ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Antônio Carlos Cavalcante. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. 61 minutes into the match, Sérgio Cruz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Harald Mogren. Arsenal FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sérgio Cruz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Arsenal FC's Harald Mogren played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sérgio Cruz in the 64th minute of play. Harald Mogren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldo Pirani in the 66th minute of play. Per-Åke Albäck was extremely unlucky when he, in the 68th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. A throw-in in the 72nd minute of the game was made by Anísio Carneiro with Delfim Quintal as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. When Sten Hök fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Arsenal FC's protests and gave Sten Hök a yellow card for diving instead. After 72 played minutes Arsenal FC got a freekick which was hit by Sten Hök. After a defensive mix-up in Palestra do Interior's zone, Leif Jönsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante came out of the goal and Leif Jönsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Per-Åke Albäck received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ulysses Neto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Harald Mogren having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nelsinho Marinho in the 90th minute of play forced Arsenal FC's goalkeeper Harald Mogren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Arsenal FC's zone, Ronaldo Pirani stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Harald Mogren came out of the goal and Ronaldo Pirani tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Harald Mogren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nelsinho Marinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. For all the effort they put into the match, the Arsenal FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Palestra do Interior.
