The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Playa Malvín booed when Despidida AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Szymon Pyrzyce didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Toro Martínez got free with Zé Roberto Teixeira in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Fred Åkerström stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Zé Roberto Teixeira showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Fernando Selatse took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Niva Espellosa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Despidida AFC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Playa Malvín had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
