Zé Roberto Teixeira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from German Cano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Playa Malvín's Zé Roberto Teixeira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by German Cano in the 5th minute of play. A collision led to Marquês de Herval getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Pedro Luís da Rocha hit a great ball. Nestor Paraibano had several of the Playa Malvín's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 9 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Zé Roberto Teixeira as he didn't even see the shot coming. Dida Taffarel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fred Åkerström in the 12th minute of the match. Dida Taffarel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fred Åkerström's shot from short distance in the 16th minute. After a rather tough play, Playa Malvín's Constantijn De Hond got a free kick in the 22nd minute. After 26 minutes Playa Malvín's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Pedro Luís da Rocha who took care of the corner kick. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but German Cano advanced and headed the ball into goal, 2-0 in the 27th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nestor Paraibano in the 33rd minute of play forced Playa Malvín's goalkeeper Zé Roberto Teixeira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Constantijn De Hond during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 41 played minutes Playa Malvín got a freekick which was hit by Constantijn De Hond. Alfredo Martins who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 42ndth minute tested the skills of Zé Roberto Teixeira when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Marquês de Herval's Dida Taffarel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fred Åkerström in the 46th minute of play.
Gao Xiang Guang charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gao Xiang Guang the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Marquês de Herval's Gao Xiang Guang got a free kick in the 52nd minute. In the 56th minute, Playa Malvín's Fred Åkerström ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Dida Taffarel. Dida Taffarel yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. Playa Malvín's Fred Åkerström got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Playa Malvín made a substitution. Sesuldo Roque replaced Sandu Mândrilă. Marquês de Herval's Dida Taffarel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Niva Espellosa in the 65th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Niva Espellosa in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dida Taffarel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Marquês de Herval's Acácio Cunha was substituted for Valentin Vizitiu. After taking down the ball on Playa Malvín's corner Sesuldo Roque fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Dida Taffarel quite easily take care of the ball. Playa Malvín's Sesuldo Roque got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marquês de Herval's Jair Bostan was substituted for Selami Rezan. When the match had gone on for 90 minutes, Niva Espellosa put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Dida Taffarel. Playa Malvín's Sesuldo Roque got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
