The Deportivo Balvanera fans' excitement grew in the 33rd match minute when Deportivo Balvanera's Joaquin Nofre looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ovidio Qwinton got free with Cayetano Behe in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Stipe Pletikosa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diego Milito, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Deportivo Balvanera's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Severiano Taurino in the 87th minute. Deportivo Balvanera's Severiano Taurino was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Stipe Pletikosa in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in.
