In the 18th match minute, Nova Iguaçu MZFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joel Lopes to maneuver through the defense. 21 minutes into the game, Agnaldo Vargas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Wellington Barbosa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After having played for 25 minutes, Jonas Veloso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vasco FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jonas Veloso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Caetano Pires got a free kick in the 26th minute. Wellington Barbosa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agnaldo Vargas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Agnaldo Vargas took the ball and in the 44 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Wellington Barbosa. Wellington Barbosa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Agnaldo Vargas to strike the kick off in the second half. Agnaldo Vargas in the 52ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Wellington Barbosa, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Agnaldo Vargass short, quick shot in the 53rdth minute got Wellington Barbosa to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Vasco FC's Wellington Barbosa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diego Cerezo in the 70th minute of play. Agnaldo Vargas took the ball and in the 77 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Wellington Barbosa. Wellington Barbosa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-6. Inácio Penha hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Wilson Vidal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wellington Barbosa having to interfere. Denílson Ramalho hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Caetano Pires shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 85th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Wellington Barbosa but with some difficulty. After 86 minutes, Agnaldo Vargas made it 0-7 with a short kick to the right side. Vasco FC's Wellington Barbosa tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. With a little luck, Vasco FC's Wellington Barbosa got control of the ball when Anselmo Batista tried to sneak it across the goal line. César de Godoi kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Anselmo Batista in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wellington Barbosa saved Vasco FC from getting behind. The Vasco FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Nova Iguaçu MZFC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
